This notice and who is responsible.
This notice describes the current AiFILE Free 0.5.0 Mac preview, provided by INAI CONNECT LTD, registered in England and Wales, company number 12974612. Registered office: Orient House, Newton Street, Hyde, SK14 4RY, United Kingdom.
It covers local app behaviour and explains where to find information about our website and support correspondence. It does not describe an unreleased Pro edition. The public release is still in preparation.
For privacy questions, email asicai@protonmail.com, use our email-draft helper, or write to the registered office. Company contact: info@inaiconnect.com.
Your catalogue stays on your Mac.
AiFILE Free searches and processes files locally. Searching and cataloguing do not send your catalogue, searches, document contents or saved memories to us or to a cloud AI service. No AiFILE account is required.
You choose the folders the app may read. Its local catalogue contains filenames, locations, file details and copies of text extracted from supported documents. It may also keep previous names and locations, labels and previews. Projects, quick memories, website links, file references, saved folder permissions and a recent trail are stored locally. The trail keeps up to 20 remembered items.
The app does not connect directly to Apple Notes or a live email inbox. Saved email files can be searched from chosen folders. Searching and cataloguing do not rename, move or edit originals; opening a result asks its associated Mac application to open it.
Local storage is not an encrypted vault.
The catalogue is stored in AiFILE’s macOS app container. AiFILE does not provide a separate password or application-level encryption for it. Someone or software with access to your Mac account, its storage or its backups may be able to read this information.
Manage your Mac account, device security and backup locations accordingly. We do not receive the local catalogue and cannot remotely erase it.
Connections you choose.
This Free version includes no advertising, tracking or automatic telemetry upload. Opening a Help website link or a saved website link opens your browser. The destination receives an ordinary browser request. AiFILE does not attach catalogue contents, search terms or memories to its Help links.
Your browser, macOS, document apps and cloud-storage services may communicate with their own services under their own settings. Those connections are separate from AiFILE’s local search.
The original demo is a video file served by this website’s host, GitHub Pages. Visiting a page or playing the video involves website requests; local searching does not make those visits automatic.
Removing local information.
Use Folders → Remove catalogue to remove that folder’s saved access, catalogue entries, extracted text and linked project-file references. Originals remain in place. Another selected parent folder can include the same files and catalogue them again.
Deleting or moving an original, or losing permission to read it, does not automatically erase text already indexed. Removing a folder does not delete your written memories or clear the recent trail. Delete memories separately and use Clear for the trail. Deleting a project keeps its notes as unassigned memories and removes that project’s file and website links.
An item title may remain in the recent trail until it is cleared or replaced by newer activity. These controls do not promise secure erasure from storage, exported files or Mac backups. Manage those separate copies yourself.
Backups and reports.
Backup creates an unencrypted JSON file containing projects, quick-memory text, folder references, labels, saved file references and website links. It excludes original documents, the extracted-text index, the recent trail and folder-access permissions.
Restore merges saved information and can replace matching memories. It does not grant folder access. File references restore only when matching files are already catalogued.
Support and startup reports contain selected technical counts, status and error fields. They exclude filenames, paths, document text, note text and raw logs. Reports are saved locally and are not sent automatically or attached by our website helper. Review them before choosing to share them; screenshots can reveal private information too.
Website visits and support email.
Our enquiry helper prepares a draft addressed to asicai@protonmail.com in your email app. It does not submit the message to a website server. Your email provider may store the draft; we receive correspondence only when you choose to send it and it is delivered.
We use relevant correspondence to answer your question, investigate a reported problem, consider a suggestion or handle a privacy request. Your message may include your reply address, message text and email metadata. An enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. The website does not send enquiry text to an AI service.
The website privacy notice explains GitHub Pages hosting and request records, Proton Mail and other email providers, authorised access, lawful bases, international processing, and retention. Routine enquiries are kept for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact and deleted sooner when no longer needed; necessary ongoing or legal records and provider backups are explained there.
Please send only what is needed. Do not send passwords, identity documents, full catalogues or confidential files unless an appropriate route has been agreed. A website visit or email is not a promise that no technical records are created.
Your choices, rights and questions.
You control the folders selected in the app, the memories you save, exports and whether to contact us. Our website notice explains access, correction, deletion, restriction and portability rights where they apply, plus your right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Contact us using the details above. We may need proportionate information to confirm a request. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or the relevant authority where you live or work. You keep your statutory rights.
We will update this notice and its date when app behaviour or our practices change. A future Pro edition or connected service needs an accurate description before release.
